Notes

The brief asked for a public archive that could hold the city's overflow of municipal records without becoming yet another sealed civic vault. We answered with a section that reorients the building toward the harbor — clerestory glazing above, layered concrete reveals at the base. Storage occupies the back of the plan; the reading rooms look out over the water. The exterior keeps its 1920s industrial weight; everything new is recessed enough to be felt rather than seen.
